Hey all. I'm in the prelim stages of planning a bike-in for early September. (Fun films this time, I promise! Probably movies with bikes.)

Can anyone supply me with a projector for one evening?

Winnipeg study to track cycling habits [Apr. 29th, 2009|03:28 pm]

The City of Winnipeg and the U of W's Centre for Sustainable Transportation are handing out GPS tracking devices to cyclists this summer to help determine the best areas in the city to build cycling infrastructure. Any cyclist who rides more than once per week can sign up to bring the tracking device with along with them on all bike trips they take for two weeks.

This could be a good chance to get your daily commuter route noticed by the city, but they are also notorious for commissioning studies and not following up on them. To sign up for the program call 988-7182 or write ottocycle@uwinnipeg.ca

Fixed-gear crown attorney crime fighter on the streets of Winnipeg.

If only I thought thought the criminal justice system and/or fixies were cool, I could really go for this.

Where's the Velo League? [Feb. 23rd, 2009|01:26 am]

After careful study of the law, I have determined that it is entirely legal in Winnipeg to ride a Penny Farthing on the sidewalk.

The law states that only the back wheel of the bicycle has to be 411mm or smaller.

Knowing this, I have the sudden urge to hop on a high wheel with my knickers,  woolen cap and a handlebar moustache.

Where in town would I find metal tire levers like these:

Minoura Aluminum Tire Lever Set

I'd like them to have the spoke hooks, MEC only sells ones without the hooks (according to their website). Should I just order them in from Natural Cycle?

The level of white-middle-class-feel-goodness in this video about Boulder, CO's cycling resources is fairly stomach-turning, but it's pretty crazy to see some of the types of things a city with a strong commitment to cycling could offer.
